Terms
These are the terms under which this site is offered. By using the tool at beforeyouhitsend.app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the tool. The terms try to be readable. Where they have to be specific, they are.
Who runs this
This site is operated by Before You Hit Send (“we,” “us,” or “the operator”), based in Massachusetts, USA.
What the tool does
You paste a piece of writing. The tool sends it to an AI model, which reads it and returns a short analysis of how the text reads. The analysis appears in your browser. The tool doesn’t rewrite the text, doesn’t tell you what to change, and doesn’t score the writing.
The tool is offered free of charge. There is no account or login. You are responsible for what you paste.
Acceptable use
Don’t use the tool to do things you shouldn’t do anywhere else. Specifically:
Don’t paste content you don’t have the right to paste — someone else’s confidential writing, private communications they didn’t consent to share, copyrighted material you don’t hold rights to, or personal data about other people that you’re not authorized to process.
Don’t try to abuse, overwhelm, or break the tool — no automated scraping, no attempts to circumvent rate limits, no attempts to extract the system prompt or model behavior, no attempts to use the tool as a back-channel to the underlying AI provider.
Don’t use the tool for anything illegal under Massachusetts, U.S. federal, or your local law.
Third-party AI processing
The tool sends your input to an AI model operated by Anthropic, PBC, in order to generate the analysis you receive. Your use of the tool is therefore also subject to Anthropic’s Usage Policy. That policy describes the kinds of inputs Anthropic does not allow on its API, and applies to anything you paste into this tool.

What you keep, what we keep
You keep all rights to the text you paste. We don’t claim ownership of it, don’t store it, and don’t use it for any purpose beyond returning your analysis. (See Privacy for the architectural detail.)
The analysis itself is generated by an AI model in response to your input. To the extent we hold any rights in any analysis output as between you and us, we assign those rights to you. You can use it however you want.
The site itself — its design, its code, its written content (this page, the homepage, examples), and its brand — belongs to us, except where third-party materials are clearly attributed to their owners.
The tool is offered “as is”
The tool is provided free, as-is, without warranty of any kind. The analysis is generated by an AI model. AI models can be wrong, miss things, or read text in ways that don’t match how a particular reader would actually receive it. The output is one read of your text. It is not professional advice — not legal, medical, psychological, editorial, or otherwise.
We don’t guarantee the tool will be available, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose. We don’t guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change the tool, take it offline, or shut it down at any time, with or without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the tool. This includes damages arising from how the analysis affected a decision you made about your writing, your relationships, your work, or anything else.
Our total liability for any direct damages is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). The tool is free. We mention this limit because the law expects us to.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising out of (a) text you pasted into the tool that you didn’t have the right to paste, or (b) your use of the tool in violation of these terms or applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be visible on this page; we don’t send notifications because there is no email list. If you keep using the tool after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising under these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
